Getting ready for Japan...

This summer I have been reading lots about Japan. Hopefully this will help me get ready for the trip in October. I will be flying to San Diego, California on October 12, 2008 for an orientation. This just means a meeting to get all of us ready to go to another country. We have to remember that we are representing not only our state, but the country of the United States!

Once we finish the meeting, we are going to dinner with all of the teachers and then fly out to Tokyo, Japan the next morning REALLY EARLY. It is going to be a long flight. I am looking forward to seeing all of the beautiful clouds in the sky as I fly. I hope I have a window seat!

Once I get to Tokyo, I will be there for 4 days. Then our big group will be split into smaller groups of 20. We will travel all across Japan for the next two weeks. I will even be staying with a family for a couple of days. Hmmm...I wonder what they will be eating?

OK, here is your question for the day.......How far away is Tokyo, Japan from Ballentine Elementary in MILES? The first one to get it right will get a special treat from Japan when I return! Good Luck and I'll talk with you again soon.

Signing off now and don't forget to do your best, always!
Love, Mrs. Sullivan

Mrs. Sullivan here is my guess...From Columbia,SC to Toyko,Japan is about 6,964 miles so therefore I can guess that to Ballentine Elementary in Irmo,SC is somewhere around 6,948 miles to the front door of our school. Hope this is pretty close. Good luck with everything. :)~
